J&K GSTAT Technical Member Recruitment 2026: Apply Online for GST Appellate Tribunal

Introduction

J&K GSTAT Technical Member Recruitment 2026: The Finance Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, has issued a Vacancy Circular (No. FD-ET/64/2021-03) inviting online applications for selection to the post of Technical Member (State/UT) in the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

The Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) is the second Appellate Authority established under the CGST Act, 2017, and the J&K GST Act, 2017. One bench of GSTAT is being established in the UT of J&K, for which one Technical Member (State/UT) is to be selected through a Search-cum-Selection Committee.

Eligible officers can submit their applications online via the official GSTN portal between 10th July 2026 and 8th August 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational & Service Qualification

• Government Service: Completed at least 25 years of continuous Government service as a Gazetted Officer in the Government of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (in terms of the relaxation approved by the Govt of India).
• Field Experience: At least 3 years of experience in the administration of an existing law (tax laws prior to 01.07.2017), Goods and Services Tax (GST), or in finance/taxation in the J&K UT Government.
• Medical Fitness: Candidates must be declared medically fit by a specified authority.

Age Limit & Tenure

• Minimum Age Limit: Minimum 50 years completed.
• Maximum Age Limit: Maximum 67 years for holding office.
• Tenure of Office: Initial appointment is for 4 years (subject to max age 67 years). Re-appointment is permissible for a further period not exceeding 2 years.

Salary, Emoluments & Terms of Service

• Fixed Basic Pay: ₹2,25,000/- per month (fixed). (For pensioners, pay will be reduced by the gross amount of pension drawn).
• House Rent Allowance: Reimbursement up to ₹1,25,000/- per month.
• Transport Facility: Entitled to a staff car or transport allowance as per Central/UT rules.
• Other Benefits: Dearness Allowance, medical benefits, and other admissible benefits same as Central Government officers carrying equal pay.
• Leave Entitlement: 30 days earned leave per year and 8 days casual leave per calendar year.

• Application Fee: No application fee is specified in the official circular.

Selection Process

The appointment process involves the following stages:

1. Online Application Scrutiny: Evaluation of eligibility, service length, and taxation experience.
2. Shortlisting: Shortlisting candidates based on experience and adjudicating orders passed.
3. Personal Interaction: Shortlisted candidates may be called for a personal interaction by the Search-cum-Selection Committee.
4. Panel Recommendation: The Committee will recommend a panel of two names to the Government of UT of J&K for final appointment.

2. Complete the online application in the form prescribed in Annexure-I.
3. Upload personal details, educational qualifications, Gazetted service experience, and write-ups/adjudicating orders as required.
4. For serving officers, attach the Employer Certificate (Annexure-II) signed by the Head of Department/Office.
5. In case of any technical difficulty uploading documents, email them to psfinance-jk@nic.in before the last date, clearly citing your online application number.
6. Submit the online form on or before 8th August 2026.
