Introduction

JKPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has published Notification No. 05-PSC (DR-P) OF 2026 (dated 31-07-2026) inviting online applications from eligible domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

This recruitment drive aims to fill 205 vacancies for the posts of Assistant Professor, College Director of Physical Education & Sports, and Librarian in Government Degree Colleges under the Higher Education Department of J&K. The online application process starts on 01-08-2026 and will remain open until 31-08-2026 on the official JKPSC portal.

Educational Qualification for the post of JKPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026

• Assistant Professor (General Disciplines):
  • Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/Differently-abled/Ph.D holders who obtained Master’s before 19th September 1991) in the concerned/relevant/allied subject.
  • Candidates must have cleared NET (conducted by UGC or CSIR) or similar UGC-accredited tests such as SLET/SET.
  • Candidates awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC Regulations 2009 or 2016 are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
• Assistant Professor (Computer Application): Master’s Degree in relevant subject with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/Differently-abled/Ph.D holders prior to 19.09.1991) along with NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D.
• Assistant Professor (Music): Master’s Degree with 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) + NET/SLET/SET/Ph.D OR a traditional/professional artist with “A” grade from AIR/Doordarshan.
• College Director of Physical Education & Sports: Master’s degree in Physical Education and Sports / Sports Science with 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) + NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D + Passed physical fitness test. (Asian Games / Commonwealth Games medal winners with PG degree are also eligible).
• Librarian: Master’s Degree in Library Science, Information Science, or Documentation Science with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) + NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D + knowledge of library computerization.
• Domicile: The candidate must be a valid Domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir possessing a valid Domicile Certificate.

Selection Process for JKPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026

The selection process is governed by Rule 45 of the J&K Public Service Commission (Business & Procedure) Rules, 2021:

1. Written Examination: Single paper of 3 hours duration consisting of 120 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
2. Academic & Research Weightage: Evaluation of qualifications, awards, research papers, M.Phil/Ph.D., and experience as per rules.
3. Document Verification: Verification of original documents before interview/selection.

How to Apply

1. Visit the official website of JKPSC at http://www.jkpsc.nic.in.
2. Update or create your One Time Registration (OTR) profile.
3. Upload a date-stamped recent passport-size photograph (taken after 01.01.2025) and signature (10kB to 20kB in .jpg/.jpeg format).
4. Go to “Show Examination”, select the post, and click “APPLY”.
5. Fill in the remaining fields and click “SUBMIT”.
6. Pay the required application fee online.
7. Upload mandatory documents: Date of Birth certificate, J&K Domicile Certificate, Graduation, PG Degree, and NET/SET/SLET/Ph.D certificates.
8. Print the submitted application form for future reference during document verification.
