Introduction
JKPSC Assistant Professor Backlog Recruitment 2026: The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has issued Notification No. 06-PSC (DR-P) OF 2026 (dated 31-07-2026) inviting online applications for 70 Assistant Professor (Backlog Vacancies). These special drive posts are in Government Degree Colleges under the Higher Education Department, UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
Eligible domiciles of Jammu & Kashmir can apply online through the official JKPSC website starting from 01.08.2026 to 31.08.2026.

Total 70 backlog vacancies (1st Special Drive from Notification No. 06-PSC(DR-P) of 2023 & 17-PSC(DR-P) of 2023) are available across multiple subject disciplines:
Eligibility Criteria for JKPSC Assistant Professor Backlog Recruitment 2026
- Educational Qualification:
- Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/Differently-abled/Ph.D holders who obtained Master’s before 19th September 1991) in the concerned, relevant, or allied subject.
- Candidates must have cleared NET (conducted by UGC/CSIR) or similar UGC-accredited tests such as SLET/SET.
- Candidates awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC Regulations 2009 or 2016 are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
- For Music Disciplines: Master’s Degree with 55% marks + NET/SLET/SET/Ph.D OR a traditional and professional artist with “A” grade from AIR/Doordarshan.
- Domicile: The candidate must be a valid Domicile of the Union Territory of J&K possessing a valid Domicile Certificate.

Selection Process
Selection shall be made in terms of Rule 45 of the J&K Public Service Commission (Business & Procedure) Rules, 2021:
- Written Examination: Single paper of 3 hours duration carrying 120 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
- Academic & Weightage Scrutiny: Assessment based on research publications, awards, degrees, and work experience.
- Document Verification: Verification of original documents prior to final appointment.
How to Apply
- Visit the official website of JKPSC at http://www.jkpsc.nic.in.
- Register or update your One Time Registration (OTR) profile.
- Upload a date-stamped recent passport-size photograph (taken not earlier than 01.01.2026) and signature (10kB to 20kB in .jpg/.jpeg format).
- Go to “Show Examination”, select the post under August 2026 notifications, and click “APPLY”.
- Verify details, submit the application, and pay the requisite fee through the online portal.
- Upload mandatory supporting documents (Date of Birth certificate, J&K Domicile Certificate, Graduation/PG Degree, NET/SLET/SET/Ph.D certificate).
- Save a printed copy of the submitted application form for document verification.
