India Post GDS Recruitment Schedule-II 2026. The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, has announced the descriptive notification (Notification No: 17-12/2026-GDS dated 20th August 2026) for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-II, July-2026.

This recruitment drive provides employment opportunities for Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak across postal circles and divisions throughout India. Selection is determined automatically based on marks obtained in the 10th standard, with no written examination required.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Class 10th Pass: Candidates must possess a Secondary School Examination (Class 10th standard) pass certificate with passing marks in Mathematics and English conducted by any recognized Board of School Education. Candidates having equivalent qualifications from other boards are not eligible.
• Compulsory Local Language: The applicant must have studied the prescribed local language of the applied postal circle/division at least up to the 10th standard from a recognized board. (Special provisions apply for Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Sikkim, and Nagaland as detailed in the official notification).
• Other Essential Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Computers.
  • Knowledge of Cycling (or riding a two-wheeler scooter/motorcycle).
  • Adequate means of livelihood.

Age Limit & Relaxations (as on 21.09.2026)

• Minimum Age: 18 Years
• Maximum Age: 40 Years

Permissible Upper Age Relaxations:

• Schedule Caste / Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST): 5 Years
• Other Backward Classes (OBC): 3 Years
• Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): No Relaxation
• Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 Years
• PwBD + OBC: 13 Years
• PwBD + SC/ST: 15 Years

Application Fee & Payment Mode

• Application Fee: ₹100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) for all posts notified in the chosen Division.
• Fee Exemption: Female applicants, SC/ST applicants, PwBD applicants, and Transwomen applicants are Exempted (₹0/-) from payment.
• Payment Mode: Online payment via Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.

Selection Process

The selection process for Gramin Dak Sevaks involves the following stages:

1. System-Generated Merit List: Selection is based purely on the merit list prepared from marks scored in the 10th standard examination, aggregated to a percentage accurate to 4 decimal places.
2. Physical Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates must appear before the designated Engaging Authority (Divisional/Unit Head) with original documents and two sets of self-attested photocopies within 15 days of shortlisting.
3. Pre-Engagement Formalities & Joining: Includes 3-day basic training, arrangement of accommodation (for BPMs), and police antecedent verification before issuing provisional/final engagement orders.

How to Apply

1. Visit the official India Post GDS engagement portal at https://indiapost.gov.in/gdsonlineengagement.
2. Step 1 – One-Time Registration (OTR): Register online from 31.08.2026 to 19.09.2026 by validating your active Mobile Number and Email ID via OTP. Enter personal and educational details exactly as recorded in your Class 10th marksheet to generate a unique Registration Number.
3. Step 2 – Online Application Form: Log in between 02.09.2026 and 21.09.2026 using your Registration Number and password. Select your Postal Circle, Division, and submit your post preferences.
4. Step 3 – Upload Images:
   • Photograph: Recent color passport photo (JPG/JPEG format, 30 KB to 100 KB).
   • Signature: Scanned signature on white paper (JPG/JPEG format, 20 KB to 100 KB).
5. Step 4 – Fee Payment & Final Submission: Pay the application fee of ₹100/- online (if applicable) and submit the form.
6. Download and print a copy of the submitted application form for future reference.
