Introduction

AIIMS Awantipora Senior Resident Recruitment 2026. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Awantipora, a Central Autonomous Body under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, has published an official employment notification (No. 01 / 2026 dated 17th August 2026).

Online applications are invited from eligible Indian citizens for tenure posts of Senior Residents and Senior Demonstrators across 31 distinct departments and specialties for a maximum period of up to three years. The application and recruitment process is being managed by AIIMS Vijaypur, Jammu, on behalf of AIIMS Awantipora.

Vacancy Details

A total of 40 vacancies have been announced across various clinical, non-clinical, and super-specialty departments:

(Note: 4% horizontal reservation is provided for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) having not less than 40% disability in accordance with Government of India rules).

Eligibility Criteria for AIIMS Awantipora Senior Resident Recruitment 2026

Educational Qualification

• Medical Candidates (Senior Residents): A postgraduate medical degree viz., MD / MS / DNB / MDS / DM / M.Ch / DrNB in the concerned specialty from a recognized university or institute. Valid permanent/provisional registration with NMC/MCI/DCI or State Medical/Dental Council is mandatory.
• Non-Medical Candidates (Senior Demonstrators – Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology): Must hold an M.Sc. / M.Biotech degree in the subject concerned along with a Ph.D. in the subject/allied subject from a recognized University/Institute.
• Crucial Cut-Off Date: The qualifying degree examination must be passed, results declared, and course tenure completed on or before 27.08.2026. Candidates who have already completed 3 years of Senior Residency under the Central Residency Scheme are not eligible.

Age Limit & Relaxations (as on 27.08.2026)

• Maximum Age Limit: 45 Years
• Permissible Age Relaxations:
  • SC / ST Candidates: 5 Years
  • OBC Candidates: 3 Years
  • PwBD (General) Candidates: 10 Years
  • PwBD (OBC) Candidates: 13 Years
  • PwBD (SC/ST) Candidates: 15 Years
  • Ex-Servicemen & Commissioned Officers (ECOs/SSCOs): 5 Years

Application Fee & Payment Mode

• General / OBC Candidates: ₹1,500/- (Non-refundable)
• SC / ST / EWS Candidates: ₹1,000/- (Non-refundable)
• PwBD Candidates: ₹0/- (Exempted)
• Payment Mode: Online through the designated payment gateway on the portal.

Selection Process

The selection process is based entirely on interview evaluation:

1. Online Application & Scrutiny: Preliminary invitation to interview based on submitted online data, followed by on-the-day physical document scrutiny by the Institute’s Scrutiny Committee.
2. Personal Interview (100 Marks): Evaluation conducted by the selection board. Merit lists across all categories are prepared solely on the basis of interview marks.
3. Resolution of Ties: Resolved on the basis of Date of Birth (older candidate ranked higher).
4. Waiting List: A reserve list will be maintained for 6 months from the date of result declaration.

3. Complete the registration form with your accurate personal, category, and educational details.
4. Upload scanned copies of required documents, passport-size color photograph (white background), and clear signature in the specified file formats.
5. Pay the applicable application fee online and submit the form before 27.08.2026 (05:00 PM).
6. Download and take a printout of the submitted application form. Self-attest every page and carry it along with original documents and two sets of self-attested photocopies to the interview venue.
