RRB Section Controller Recruitment 2026 Notification Overview
Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released the Centralized Employment Notification (CEN No. 03/2026) for the post of Section Controller. A total of 119 vacancies are being filled across various Zonal Railways. Eligible Indian citizens holding a University Degree can register online through the official RRB application portal between July 15, 2026, and August 14, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification
- Candidates must possess a University Degree or its equivalent from a recognized University or Institution as of the closing date (14.08.2026).
- Note: Candidates awaiting final results of the prescribed educational qualification are not eligible to apply.
2. Medical Standard
- Medical Standard: A-2 (Physically fit in all respects).
- Visual Standards: Distant vision 6/9, 6/9 without glasses (No fogging test). Near Vision Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses. Must pass tests for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision, and Myopic Vision.
- Important Constraint: Candidates who have undergone LASIK surgery or any other surgical procedure to correct refractive error are NOT eligible for this post.
3. Age Limit (as of 01.07.2026)
- Normal Age Range: 20 to 33 Years (Candidates born between 02.07.1993 and 01.07.2006 for UR/EWS).
Upper Age Relaxation:
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 Years (Born on or after 02.07.1990)
- SC / ST: 5 Years (Born on or after 02.07.1988)
- Ex-Servicemen: 3 to 8 Years (based on length of service and community)
- PwBD Candidates: 10 to 15 Years relaxation (subject to suitability rules)
- Serving Railway Staff (min 3 years service): Up to 40 years (UR), 43 years (OBC), 45 years (SC/ST)
Application Fee & Refund Details
- For All Candidates (except categories below): ₹500/-
- (₹400 will be refunded after deducting bank charges upon attending the CBT).
- For SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / Female / Transgender / Minorities / EBC / PwBD Candidates: ₹250/-
- (Entire ₹250 will be refunded after deducting bank charges upon attending the CBT).
- Payment Mode: Online via Internet Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI.
Selection Process
The recruitment for Section Controller involves four distinct stages:
- Single-Stage Computer Based Test (CBT): 100 Objective Questions, 120 Minutes duration.
- Negative marking: 1/3rd mark deducted for each wrong answer.
- Syllabus includes Analytical & Mathematical Capability (60 Marks), Logical Capability (20 Marks), and Mental Reasoning (20 Marks).
- Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Candidates equal to 8 times the vacancy count will be shortlisted based on CBT merit. Candidates must score a minimum T-Score of 42 in each test battery to qualify. No negative marking in CBAT.
- Document Verification (DV): Shortlisting done at a 1:1 ratio based on combined merit (70% weightage to CBT + 30% weightage to CBAT).
- Medical Examination (ME): Passing A-2 Medical Fitness Test conducted by Railway Administration.

- Visit the official website of your chosen RRB or the common RRB portal (
rrbapply.gov.in/rrb.indianrailways.gov.in). - Create an Account: Register using your active mobile number and valid email address. (Identity verification through Aadhaar/DigiLocker is strongly recommended).
- Log in using your credentials and complete the application details.
- Select your chosen RRB and zone preferences. (Note: You can apply to only ONE RRB).
- Live Photo & Signature: Capture a live photograph using your device web camera/front camera as per module instructions and upload your scanned signature (in black ink on white paper, 30–49 KB).
- Pay the prescribed application fee online and submit your application.
- Download and print out a copy of the completed application form for future reference.
