JKSSB Warder Recruitment 2026: Apply Online for 288 Posts in J&K Home Department

Introduction

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has published Advertisement Notification No. 05 of 2026 for direct recruitment to the post of Warder in the J&K Prisons Department under the Home Department. JKSSB Warder Recruitment 2026 has announced total of 288 UT Cadre vacancies. Applicants must be valid domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Online applications start on 27th July 2026 and will remain open until 25th August 2026.

Vacancy Details

All 288 advertised posts are UT Cadre posts in the J&K Prisons Department. The category-wise breakup of vacancies is provided below:

(Note: Horizontal reservation for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) is applicable as per rules, while Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are not eligible for these physical posts).

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Minimum Qualification: Matriculation (10th Pass) from a recognized Board.
• Maximum Qualification: 10+2 (Higher Secondary) from a recognized Board.
• Candidates must possess the required educational qualifications on or before the cut-off date (25.08.2026).

Domicile Requirement

• Applicants must be Domiciles of UT of Jammu & Kashmir and possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued on or before 25.08.2026.

Age Limit (as of 01/01/2026)

Application Fee & Payment Mode

• General / OM / OBC / RBA / ALC/IB: ₹700/- (Rupees Seven Hundred Only)
• SC / ST-1 / ST-2 / EWS: ₹600/- (Rupees Six Hundred Only)
• Payment Mode: Online only through Net Banking, Credit Card, or Debit Card.
• Note: Fees once paid are non-refundable.

Physical Standards & Tests

1. Physical Standard Test (PST)

Candidates 6 times the total number of vacancies will be shortlisted category-wise from the Written Test to appear in PST.

• Male Candidates: Height: 5′-6″ (min), Chest: 32″–33.5″ (min).
• Female Candidates: Height: 5′-2″ (min), Must be physically fit.

2. Physical Endurance Test (PET) – Qualifying Nature

• Male Candidates:
  • Long Race: 1,600 meters in 6½ minutes (6 mins 30 secs).
  • Push-ups: 20 counts.
• Female Candidates:
  • Long Race: 1,000 meters in 6½ minutes (6 mins 30 secs).
  • Shot Put (4 Kgs): 14½ feet in 3 attempts. (Relaxed PET standards apply to Ex-Servicemen depending on age categories).

Selection Process

The selection for Warder posts will strictly comprise three stages:

1. Written Test: Objective-type multiple-choice examination in English. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 (1/4th) marks for each wrong answer.
2. Physical Standard Test (PST): Qualifying in nature.
3. Physical Endurance Test (PET): Qualifying in nature.
4. Document Verification (DV) & Medical Examination: Final merit list drawn based on Written Examination performance, subject to clearing PST, PET, Document Verification, and Medical Fitness Test.

3. Register on the portal by entering basic details (Name, DOB, Mobile Number, Email ID).
4. Fill in the online form carefully with your personal details, qualifications, category, and domicile information.
5. Upload a clear live photograph, signature (10–20 KB), and valid category/qualification documents (PDF up to 100 KB).
6. Pay the required application fee via online banking or debit/credit card.
7. Submit the form and take a printout of the application confirmation page for future Document Verification.
